Flood Warning System

Wherever you are in Scotland, Floodline is there to help 24 hours a day. A recorded telephone and website service, Floodline is the reliable source for current information on river and coastal flood risk. It is also a source of advice and information to help you minimise the effect flooding can have on your home or business.

The frequency of floods has risen dramatically in Scotland over recent years. Although we can't prevent them, you can limit their impact. That's why everyone should be prepared.

Even if you live or work in an area that hasn't flooded before, or is above ground level, it's still important that you are prepared to take action. After all, the roads leading to and from your home or workplace could get flooded. Power and water supplies may be cut. Or you may have family, friends and neighbour's who could be at risk and need your help.

Automated Flood Warning

Scottish Borders Council, Lothian and Borders Police and SEPA work together to provide a flood warning system to the occupiers of properties considered to be at risk of flooding from rivers. There are 24 groups across the Scottish borders and the warnings they receive are based on data from a network of automated gauging stations located on the main rivers throughout the area
